Currency exchange facilities

Find foreign exchange facilities mainly at Airports. Hotels do not exchange currency and only a few major banks will exchange dollars, so it is advisable to arrive with US Dollars.

Using your credit or debit card and ATMs

Most major credit cards are accepted throughout the USA, including American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa. Withdrawing cash from an ATM using a credit card usually incurs a fee ($1 to $3), but if you take a prepaid currency card you won't be paying this fee. Tourist will also be requested pre payment or a credit card imprint for bookings, speciffically at hotels and car hore stores, so make sure you take a credit card with you.

If you loose your card somewhere in the USA some useful numbers are:
American Express: (800-528-4800; www.americanexpress.com)
MasterCard: (800-622-7747; www.mastercard.com)
Visa: (800-847-2911; www.visa.com)

Travellers cheques

Widely accepted in US Dollar cheques; Pound Sterling and Euro traveller's cheques are rarely accepted amongst small stores and only a few banks will cash them. One or two forms of identificationwill be required including passport, credit card, driving licence.
